If you're interested in any of these items and live in the Billings, MT area, I'd be willing to meet you at the LDS church located on Monad in the parking lot. I'm Kristy. I discovered after only about 5 tries, that Cricut cutting vinyl lettering and cutting other paper projects was not for me. But maybe it's your thing. It comes with a box full of vinyl, three cartridges I purchased and two previously loaded on, a stylus, and all the necessary cords and manuals: <span style="color: red;">$50.00</span><br />

I've whined aplenty about the cost and the inconvenience, but on the bright side...<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm so glad it happened last weekend and not this weekend, because I wouldn't have been able to drive to visit Lisa!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm grateful there are people out there willing to lend a hand, mechanic-ing, giving rides, and so much more!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm glad to discover that running in the afternoon in this weather is much easier than in the morning (which I wouldn't have realized, had my car not broke down).</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm grateful for Dad for insisting I put studded snow tires on my vehicle (REALLY grateful after driving around in a rental with wimpy tires all week).</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm grateful for Mom for lending a sympathetic ear, and listening to my woes.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm grateful I have a car.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm grateful to have family to go to for the holidays.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So my car broke down last week, but on the bright side...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am blessed.</div>

A picture that actually appears to be as lovely as the tree as I see it. Every year I fail. This year's attempt:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje-c5inZq1nGOTrNJ0qnUqFyZ_jCdhDuhbeMFL1wnjcNP9_z4pLe1YNXZW1N3KEd2gps84WSwrgQTY3xuRXC6Fy17r0sHAtwyhZxi708j-4KaafNGZyeURnV_dGMNPSH-0yKulk4w5yxCM/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje-c5inZq1nGOTrNJ0qnUqFyZ_jCdhDuhbeMFL1wnjcNP9_z4pLe1YNXZW1N3KEd2gps84WSwrgQTY3xuRXC6Fy17r0sHAtwyhZxi708j-4KaafNGZyeURnV_dGMNPSH-0yKulk4w5yxCM/s320/photo.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Contemplating Christmas trees, I remember the big ordeal it seemed to be when at home with Mom and Dad. Everyone would haul the boxes up from the cold room. Dad usually was in charge of lights. Someone would sit down at the piano and play Christmas music (until told to start pulling their weight and hang some ornaments!) or we'd put in the traditional Christmas music CD. Our sing-a-long would be interrupted by exclamations of "Oh remember when I made...." "Haha, Look at this one do you remember...?" and many other happy remembrances from Christmases past.<br />
<br />
The last few years I've helped Mom & Dad put their tree up before heading home during the Thanksgiving break. Heading out early, I missed the fun this year. As I hauled my own tree and decorations up from the crawlspace, I thought about feeling sorry for myself. When you live on your own and partake of many of the Holiday activities independently feeling sorry for yourself is the easy thing to do.<br />
<br />
I mentally whined while struggling to lift the tree into my kitchen on my own, I considered silently boohooing that there was no one there to sing and reminisce with, I harrumphed when I had to walk around the tree to string the lights rather than being able conveniently hand the string over to a person on the other side of the tree.<br />
<br />
But now I stop and remember that being alone is always a choice. As Mom has reminded me, I could be married to that short fat man from Zimbabwe that was so interested in me at BYU. I recall the many choices that I have made that have led me to where I am today, and I'm not sorry. Certainly I hope for more meaningful and lasting relationships outside of those that I have with my family and friends. Really, though, I have led a blessed life. I have sincere friends, and a supportive family (even though they're a little farther away than I would like at times), and I am learning to enjoy the friendship of those with whom I spend time at work and church. I have a comfortable, safe, and beautiful home. I have work that I enjoy, and a good job that provides well for me. I'm learning so much about who I am, and I'm understanding more every day what things really matter in life, and what things just need to be let go.<br />
<br />
My life is good! So as I sit here by my cozy tree and remember the good times of Christmases past, I vow to try a little harder to make more memories in this present. I'll find joy with those who surround me, and enjoy all the blessings that this season brings.MT Missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09881264211558631675noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1890360916639727379.post-69045500646980353542012-01-22T21:59:00.001-07:002012-01-22T21:59:18.815-07:00Nothing Blog-worthyI wish that I could report on adventures in skydiving or paragliding or flying lessons, but nothing noteworthy occurred this week, so I'll share the un-noteworthy: Work. Lots of cancellations due to some poor weather. Institute began again. I celebrated a friend's birthday by going out to dinner with her and some other friends. I ate Thai food and watched The Red Tails with friends, and basically feel happy to be where I am, who I am, and doing what I'm doing.MT Missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09881264211558631675noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1890360916639727379.post-68654469550631499402012-01-15T14:58:00.000-07:002012-01-15T14:58:08.066-07:00Rosebud<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Did you know there's a town in Montana called Rosebud? I didn't until this week. Charlee, Theresa, and I headed over there yesterday to cheer on one of Charlee's younger sisters while she played basketball. Rosebud is a "blink and you miss it" kind of town. It had a teeny-tiny post office with two regular parking spaces and two handicap parking spaces. The largest building in town was definitely the school where we watched the game. It's located near Colstrip and and Forsyth and boasts less than 3000 people living there. I would never want to live there. Western, MT really is much prettier than Eastern.</div>MT Missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09881264211558631675noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1890360916639727379.post-61185993336962348122012-01-07T11:49:00.000-07:002012-01-07T11:49:06.548-07:00New Years Resolutions<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">I became a bit frustrated with the fact that I've already broken pretty much every single New Years Resolution I set for myself, so I've decided to put them in print and organize them into more achievable goals. I hope to make each goal have real personal significance for my spiritual growth and well being this year. Each goal I set, I keep (that's my positive affirmation to myself). I've established three categories for my goals, going from general, to yearly, to more specific daily goals. First, who I want to BE. Underneath the BE I have to set goals for how I want to LIVE. Finally, the essential part of living is STRIVING DAILY or CONSTANTLY to meet personal expectations and goals.<br />

The most fun we had was when Sara would join us, though. I've never known anyone as entertaining in a Pool as Sara. One evening when the gang was over for a swim (fortunately there are no photos to document how I currently look in a swimsuit), someone showed up with fake mustaches. Here's the evidence:<br />

What I realized about the park this time, though, is that you really can't see it all in one day. We spent most of the day in the car, so I'm glad that we could still take in the beautiful scenery, even if it was behind glass for a good portion of it. What we saw of it out of the car was great, though. We ate lunch in Cooke City, Charlee and Theresa got shirts that were misspelled "Cookie" City, went hiking around a body of water (I can't in good conscience call it a lake, but it was definitely larger than a pond), rolled the windows down as we drove slowly through a herd of buffalo (I think Trish actually touched or almost touched one), headed to Ol' Faithful and witnessed the explosion, drove around Yellowstone Lake (definitely deserving of the Lake title, SO impressive), and traveled back to Billings in time to pick up friends and see the Laurel City Fireworks Display. <div><br />

<br />
Last Summer was so much fun, that I didn't take time to take pictures. Thanks to my friends with cameras and facebook, I can steal a few pictures and place them here.<br />
<br />
Theresa, Charlee, and I had a delightful adventure traveling to the October General Conference. We lost our way and went two hours out of our way, but safely made it to my Auntie's house! We listened to the Saturday morning conference on the grounds a temple square near the Tabernacle, and then enjoyed great seats near the front of the Conference Center in the afternoon. Our adventures included at this point: eating at a restaurant who brought the food at snail's pace and charged three times as much as it was worth, then receiving a meal that wasn't cooked all the way through (Theresa), trying to run in high heels, because we worried about being late, eating yummy Chinese food afterwords, limping (me, in shoes that chaffed) around the shopping mall and discovering that there was absolutely nothing worth buying there, and at last enjoying the Deseret Book Store that had things we actually wanted to purchase, spending way to much time...and possibly way too much money there, and traveling back to Springville late that evening.<br />
<br />
Sunday morning was fun at Aunt C's place. I made waffles and we all piled into the family room and watched Conference in a much more relaxed state of being. The Charlee's car had an unfortunate glitch, with the check engine light coming on, but fortunately for us Uncle D had a engine light checker/reading-thing-a-ma-bob, and we were able to figure out that it wasn't anything alarming and we could still make it safely back to MT. This time, we traveled the right direction, enjoyed General Conference on the radio, and returned well entertained (mostly by our hilarious selves) and spiritually fed. There's nothing quite like General Conference at the Conference Center.<br />
<br />
<br />
We couldn't have asked for a nicer day to listen to Conference outdoors.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb90tXQfoKZ9J9RFXQYKUQfSK2xqckV9nyv6IelPtqlaR9-buSDxbJwP8_4tiiJALTUbsUb-WHap0q8VUTLyV5fF2oPCQUO82hFOtbGC29eLsjItp0D_xymzQQiwyGJBUhceTdTZIDeflN/s1600/Temple+Square1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb90tXQfoKZ9J9RFXQYKUQfSK2xqckV9nyv6IelPtqlaR9-buSDxbJwP8_4tiiJALTUbsUb-WHap0q8VUTLyV5fF2oPCQUO82hFOtbGC29eLsjItp0D_xymzQQiwyGJBUhceTdTZIDeflN/s320/Temple+Square1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

Our Evening at the temple was snap decision detour, and really wonderful (except for my aching feet).<br />

There's no better way to travel than with to fun, funny, fantastic friends. We're already making plans for our next Summer's adventures.<br />

I love my job.</div>MT Missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09881264211558631675noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1890360916639727379.post-44661274342334700702011-05-20T15:47:00.002-06:002011-05-20T15:47:50.273-06:00Three More Reasons to Spend Time with Children<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">1. I was in St. Regis later than usual yesterday, because of a meeting in Hot Springs, and Kathy informed me that one of the students was really upset because she didn't get to see me. Kathy said the only way she could persuade her to focus and complete her work was by assuring her that I would stop in at her classroom when I came for the day. There was no need. The sweetie came tripping along the hallway a few minutes later, peeked her head in the speech room and shouted, "Miss Kristy! I missed you and I wanted to tell you that you are SO beautiful!" Then she ran into the room and threw her arms around me in a big hug.<br />
<br />
2. I was working with a little kindergarten guy today and as I leaned across the table to show him something he looked up, smiled, then reached out to stroke my hair and say, "yo -aio i- so bu-e-o". Being the master linguist and interpreter that I am I said "You think my hair is beautiful?" To which he exclaimed, "Yes!" (We worked on that word all last year...)<br />
<br />
3. One of the favorite parts of my job is exiting students from speech. We throw an exit party and really celebrate in order to congratulate the kids on how well they have done and their great hard work. Today I stopped by a classroom to get a teacher's signature to exit one of her students from speech before the end of the school year. As I passed through the classroom I saw the kiddo who is going to be exited and I informed him that he was going to finish out speech at the end of the year, and wouldn't have speech any more next year. He asked about the party and I told him it would be on Tuesday. He grinned, and then suddenly a look of dismay appeared on his face and reaching out he grabbed my hand exclaiming, "But I'm going to miss you!"</div>MT Missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09881264211558631675noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1890360916639727379.post-28969083945362758512011-02-27T17:16:00.000-07:002011-02-27T17:16:22.859-07:00Billings Here I Come!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">I received a "conditional" job offer. They started school an hour late in Thompson Falls two days in a row, to give the snow plows time to sand the Highway heavily before the buses drove on them. They canceled school in St. Regis in Friday....if I only work in St. Regis I would have gotten a four day weekend...'sigh'.<br /><br />The ice is gradually melting, but the rain is pouring. I drove through two inches of water across the entire surface of the highway today and was fortunate enough that the rock I hit did not puncture my tire.<br /><br />I think I prefer just snow in January. All this ice and slush and freezing rain accompanied by more ice and slush is confusing.MT Missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09881264211558631675noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1890360916639727379.post-92110703064191277102011-01-16T19:47:00.003-07:002011-01-16T20:12:12.015-07:00Teaching in SpanishOn Thursday and today I got to teach in Spanish! It's been a long time since I've had a decent conversation with anyone who speaks Spanish, and I really enjoyed it. The family I taught is from Michoacán, Mexico. They are so nice and humble. Antonio and Maria think I'm hilarious...probably because I just keep talking, even though I'm sure I don't always say things quite right. I arrived late for the visit tonight because it's pouring buckets and I was visit teaching and couldn't exit politely as I had planned. Right as I walked in the door Antonio said that they'd have to put me in the corner as punishment for my tardiness. Too funny! Antonio used to be a logger, but after a very serious accident he hasn't been able to work much, because he's no longer allowed to do any heavy lifting and his hands have always been his livelihood. He's had very little formal education and is anxious that his four children receive a really good education, because he hopes for the best for them. Maria is quiet and kind and laughs a lot. It's so nice to meet good people (and brush up on my Spanish)!MT Missyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09881264211558631675noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1890360916639727379.post-77104084809474453462010-12-28T14:14:00.003-07:002010-12-28T14:35:07.578-07:00Countdown Complete<a href="http://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=1890360916639727379"><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span></a>Upon arriving in Helena I was having so much <a href="http://www.leapinintolife.blogspot.com/">fun with family</a> that I became completely distracted from my Christmas Countdown.
